@67 Communications to launch new Community Choir for Wrexham – One Voice Singing for All

Date: 05.01.2012

@67 Communications, a Wrexham based social enterprise specialising in media and community relations has joined forces with Carol Donaldson, an award winning Musical Director and composer to create Wrexham Community Choir with a membership which will reflect the mix of all communities living in Wrexham.

The Wrexham Community Choir – One Voice Singing for All begins on Tuesday January 10th and aims to bring people together through song and its membership will reflect the diversity of the local community by including songs from all around the world.

There will be a huge repertoire of music including  Welsh, African , Eastern European, Hawaiian and Maori songs and more, as well as songs in English including, pop, indie and musical theatre. This innovative project, funded by the Welsh Government's Community Cohesion fund, will also expand its repertoire to include the songs that members of the choir bring to the group.

There is no upper limit to numbers and no experience is necessary– the more the merrier. There are no auditions and the choir is free and will meet every Tuesday evening from 7.30 pm to 9.30pm at the Wrexham Lager Club on Union Road in Wrexham from Tuesday 10th January 2012.

Musical Director, Carol Donaldson says “Many of us think we can’t sing but I believe we all have a beautiful voice that’s bursting to get out of us and, in my work with choirs, I always strive to get people singing together by creating a good balance between having  fun and singing to a high standard. Wrexham Community Choir is open to everyone –  from terrified beginners to seasoned singers and those in between and we hope as many people will join us as it will be fun, energising  and a great way to be with people”.

Wendy Paintsil from @67 Communications says ‘This is an exciting and fun way to bring people together through a shared passion for music and singing - allowing them to develop friendships, share experiences and introduce music and songs from many cultures. We have been overwhelmed with the interest and enthusiasm for the choir so far and look forward to meeting all the new members next week.”
